Pregnancy and Postpartum Care
Pregnancy and postpartum physical therapy provides personalized support as your body changes before, during, and after childbirth. Whether you are preparing for delivery, managing pain or pelvic-floor symptoms, or working toward postpartum recovery, care is tailored to your body, daily activities, and individual goals.
Concerns We Can Address
Physical therapy may help with pregnancy-related pelvic, hip, tailbone, or low-back pain; bladder leakage; pelvic pressure; abdominal weakness; diastasis recti; and difficulty completing daily activities comfortably. Care can also address posture and body mechanics for sleeping, working, exercising, lifting, feeding, carrying your baby, and getting up and down from the floor.
Birth-preparation visits may include education about breathing, positioning, pelvic-floor coordination, pushing strategies, and ways to prepare your home and body for the early postpartum period.
How Physical Therapy May Help
Your treatment plan may include education, therapeutic exercise, breathing and pressure-management strategies, core and pelvic-floor coordination, activity modifications, and a personalized home program. The goal is to help you better understand your changing body, manage symptoms, build strength, and participate in pregnancy, parenting, exercise, and everyday life with greater comfort and confidence.
Postpartum care can support a gradual return to walking, running, lifting, recreational activities, and sports. Treatment is based on your individual recovery rather than a one-size-fits-all timeline.
What to Expect
All new patients begin with a private, one-on-one telehealth evaluation. During this visit, we will discuss your symptoms, birth or pregnancy history, daily activities, and goals; assess your movement and function; and develop a practical treatment plan you can use at home. Follow-up care may continue through telehealth or include an in-home visit near Apex, North Carolina, when additional assessment or hands-on treatment would be beneficial.
Telehealth appointments are available to patients located in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida.
