Pelvic, Hip and Low Back Pain

Pain in the pelvis, hips, tailbone, or lower back can affect exercise, work, sleep, parenting, and everyday movement. These areas work closely with the core, pelvic floor, breathing system, and surrounding muscles. Physical therapy takes a whole-body approach to identify contributing factors and develop a practical plan for improving movement, comfort, and function.

Concerns We Can Address

Physical therapy may help with pelvic girdle pain, hip pain, low-back pain, tailbone pain, sacroiliac joint discomfort, muscle tension, pain with sitting, and symptoms associated with pregnancy, postpartum recovery, surgery, exercise, or prolonged inactivity.

Your assessment may also consider strength, mobility, posture, breathing, pelvic-floor coordination, movement habits, and how your symptoms respond to activities such as sitting, standing, walking, lifting, running, and sleeping. The location of pain does not always identify its source, so treatment considers how different areas of the body work together.

How Physical Therapy May Help

Your individualized treatment plan may include mobility exercises, progressive strengthening, core and pelvic-floor coordination, breathing and pressure-management strategies, movement modifications, and education about managing symptoms. We can also evaluate activities that are painful or difficult and identify practical changes that may make them more comfortable.

Treatment is designed around your goals and environment. The aim is to help you understand your symptoms, improve your body’s ability to handle everyday demands, and return to work, exercise, recreation, and daily activities with greater confidence.

What to Expect

All new patients begin with a private, one-on-one telehealth evaluation. During this visit, we will discuss your symptoms, medical history, daily activities, and goals; assess your posture, movement, mobility, strength, breathing, and coordination; and develop a personalized home treatment plan.

Follow-up care may continue through telehealth or include an in-home appointment near Apex, North Carolina, when additional physical assessment or hands-on treatment would be beneficial. Telehealth appointments are available to patients located in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida.
