Healthy Aging

Healthy aging physical therapy supports strength, mobility, balance, bone health, pelvic-floor function, and confidence through perimenopause, menopause, and beyond. Care is personalized to help you remain active, independent, and involved in the activities that are important to you.

Concerns We Can Address

Physical therapy may help with changes in strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, bladder or bowel control, pelvic pressure, core function, and confidence with exercise. Care may also support individuals managing osteoporosis or osteopenia, recovering from a fall or period of inactivity, or returning to exercise after surgery, illness, or injury.

Hormonal and age-related changes can affect muscles, bones, connective tissues, and pelvic-floor function. Your assessment considers these changes along with your medical history, current activity level, home environment, and personal goals.

How Physical Therapy May Help

Your individualized treatment plan may include progressive strengthening, balance training, weight-bearing exercise, mobility work, pelvic-floor and core coordination, posture and body-mechanics education, and strategies for reducing fall risk. When appropriate, care may also include guidance for exercising safely with osteoporosis or other health considerations.

Treatment is designed to fit your abilities and lifestyle. Whether your goal is to feel steadier on the stairs, lift and carry comfortably, return to a favorite activity, improve pelvic-floor symptoms, or begin a safe exercise program, you will receive practical strategies that can be continued independently at home.

What to Expect

All new patients begin with a private, one-on-one telehealth evaluation. During this visit, we will discuss your health history, symptoms, daily activities, home environment, and goals; assess relevant movement, mobility, balance, and strength; and develop a personalized treatment plan.

Follow-up care may continue through telehealth or include an in-home appointment near Apex, North Carolina, when additional assessment, home-safety recommendations, or hands-on treatment would be beneficial. Telehealth appointments are available to patients located in North Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida.
